Robin Thorin was a remarkable young man with incredible boundless energy and a zest for life that is unforgettable. He was tragically killed on 24 April 2007 whilst on his bicycle on SH10 in the vicinity of Matauri Bay.
During his brief but very full life, Robin was involved in many community based organisations and made valuable contributions to the following:

Mau Rakou Taiaha Group
Ahipara Surf Life Saving Club
Boxing instructor at Kaeo Gym
His love of aviation saw him involved as:

To honour his memory this trust has been established in his name so that Robin's legacy can continue in the Northland region.
The aim of the trust is to offer support and sponsorship to nominated recipients who display similar traits to those exhibited by Robin. Robin's selfless community minded spirit was an inspiration to many and he was always willing to offer help and support to those he came into contact with.
Nominations will be invited by 31 October annually for this sponsorship and will be assessed and distributed by the end of each year for use in the following 12 month period.
Applications for scholarships will close 15 December 2010.
